My Home 2.0

When Verizon rolled out their ultra high-speed internet service titled FiOS in Philadelphia, they decided the best way to get the word out locally was with a grassroots, locally televised TV show which had the FiOS techs remodel residents homes with high-technology and FiOS internet and cable services. Philadelphia residents could record audition tapes, upload them online and Verizon would choose several lucky homes to remodel, film the process and throw huge block parties to unveil the results. All shows would be shown locally and online at a custom built Youtube channel.

Verizon wanted a site to allow users to upload audition tapes, watch and rate episodes, research FiOS and discuss the show and services in a custom wiki and forum.

Custom video uploader and flash converter

Verizon’s staff needed a video review tool which would allow them to view uploaded videos and take an action on whether they wanted to pass it along, delete it or push it to the Youtube channel. To that end, we programmed the system to convert various video formats into a Flash video file and created a video management system to house the videos and allow the system users to rate them.

Video playlist and rating features via Youtube API

So that we wouldn’t have to worry about procuring a Content Delivery Network (CDN) and to extend the site’s presence to as many potential visitors as possible, we created a branded Youtube channel for the My Home 2.0 show. The 2pointhome website actually consumed the video playlists and user feedback and comments through the Youtube API. Their API was also leveraged to allow users to rate and comment on videos right from the 2pointhome site.

Google Maps integration of community events and FiOS installations

In order to highlight local FiOS related events, we programmed Verizon’s admin tool so they could enter local points of interest with related information. Users on the site would be able to pan around the Philadelphia area and see icons highlighting several of FiOS’ local events and their installation progress.

PassportMD

PassportMD is a leading provider in the consumer-directed healthcare and personal health records (PHR) industry. Remaining committed to a goal of “Independent family wellness”, PassportMD helps individuals keep track of all facets of their family’s health and wellness including personal health records and documentation, doctor communication, pharmacy and expenses. Medicare has selected PassportMD to provide Personal Health Records for Medicare Beneficiaries and was one of only four vendors to participate in a PHR pilot program for Medicare.

PassportMD wanted to take online Personal Health Record technology to the next level by providing their users more than just the ability to manually enter or scan in their medical records.

Doctor Connector & MyFax API Integration

PassportMD wanted to make finding your doctor a snap. Teaming with Intelligent Medical Objects (IMO), PassportMD was able to offer its users an AJAX searchable directory of doctors by name, city, state, zip and/or specialty. Implementing an AJAX “live” search allowed users to see a dynamic list of most likely candidates as they entered their data into the search criteria. Once a doctor was found, users could choose to send an automatic fax request (via MyFax’s API) for medical records, along with barcoded cover sheet. Doctors simply faxed back all medical records and the system would use the barcode to associate the request with a user and store the scanned copies of the user’s medical database in the system automatically.

eHealth Viewer Integration

Even though users could seamlessly send doctor record requests easily, there was one problem – you can’t fax X-Rays or Medical Resonance Image (MRI’s). To this end, we integrated eHealth Global Technologies’ eHealth Viewer. eHealthViewer is a small, lightweight client that provides highly secure, high-speed image viewing over most networks, including wireless and across firewalls. In addition to viewing full-resolution diagnostic-quality images, it offers 3-D image rendering and multi-planar reformats (MPR). Users can also view full radiology reports in conjunction with the corresponding diagnostic image(s), even on handheld devices.

Intelligent Medical Objects (IMO) Medical Data Integration

PassportMD wanted to be a one-stop shop for all medical consumer-directed healthcare and personal health records. To this end, we integrated IMO’s extensive medical database of 180,000-plus terms, synonyms, acronyms, eponyms, abbreviations and even common misspellings of medical conditions to help users better find the appropriate terms they need. This allowed users to create their own medical records based on medical conditions, doctors, vaccinations, allergies, medications, procedures and surgeries. User experience was essential in helping encourage users to enter their historical medical items. All entries were done with an AJAX live search which pre-populated the most likely matches as users entered their various search criteria.

MyReminderRX (Jaduka Integration)

In keeping with their goal of independent family wellness, PassportMD created MyReminderRX so users could set automatic phone call reminders for themselves and loved ones. By integrating with Jaduka’s API, users could enter a phone number to call, choose from a few pre-recorded voice messages or record their own and set a one-time or recurring call schedule that would call the designated number and play the reminder.

Regency Centers

Regency Centers is a national developer, owner and operator of grocery-anchored and community shopping centers. They have spent more than 40 years building a legacy of success evidenced by 440 centers, 20 regional offices and properties in nearly every major market.

Regency’s new website was designed to be Regency’s premier communication tool focused on helping to generate sales and clearly communicate what sets Regency apart from its peers—Regency’s national scope, local market presence and dedication to quality. The site accommodates Regency’s various audiences with easy navigation, a clean visual appearance and user-friendly functionality.

Property Search

Regency wanted to make searching properties convenient, easy and accessible. To this end, a Flash map designating every state where Regency Centers operate a property is highlighted and clickable for users looking to browse through state properties. In addition, the sidebar is populated with advanced search options for user searching on several criteria.

Property Display

Regency wanted to display as much information on a property as possible without redirecting the user to multiple pages. To this end, THAT Agency designed a multi-tabbed interface that was programmed via AJAX so new information, such as site plan, aerial maps, property photo gallery, center demographics and a property brochure, could be loaded quickly and served to the user seamlessly.

Microsoft Live Maps Integration

A major point of service for Regency was using their already extensive database of property information and marketing materials on the new site without having to manually re-enter the data or generate new marketing photos for the properties. After porting their database information from Access into MySQL, we used their GPS data on each property to dynamically load a Microsoft Live Maps aerial view centered on each property highlighted by a custom icon. To ensure Regency staff could update their map view, the CMS allowed users to drag the icon to a new location and save that as the property’s new center point.

Custom built CMS

Regency has over 500 employees and needed a custom-built CMS/CRM hybrid solution that allowed their marketing department to upload new sales and service content as easily as it allowed operations to update new and existing properties and sales to track in the field web orders.

Smerby

Smerby is a network marketing company that has bundled several online services for one low monthly price and login.

Smerby needed to build a user-centric site that, through the use of various APIs, allowed users to access over 13 different services with one login. Smerby also required a web management tool that allowed them to manage customers, API & system settings, marketing tours and banners, site statistics and communications.

API service integrations

We integrated various API’s from several online services such as Spamarrest, AVG, Gotomeeting, Gotomypc, Identity Secure, TrustFax, MyPhotoAlbum and more. Each API was a different challenge and required a different technology and methodology, including cURL, REST, SOAP and XML, to name a few. All service integrations were built with one requirement – that users could click a login button and be taken to the service’s site in an iframe or new window and be logged in as a user without having to input their login username and password.

User online marketing tours, banners and statistic tracking

Smerby is a network marketing company, which means they allow their users an income opportunity by reselling their services to other potential users. To that end, we had to develop an online business center with a lead management system, site tracking stats and personalized sales and marketing tools. Users could send marketing emails with their choice of pre-built message template to users with links back to their personalized tour sites. All site visits were tracked by custom user id and displayed as site visitor statistics back to the user.

Full web management system

Smerby is a complete online web solution and as such required a full web management center that controls account and service access, customer profiles, billing, site statistics, reporting, online marketing, system and api settings, and system-wide messaging.
